STANCE Strategy

The STANCE Steering Committee includes elected officials, educators, public safety and law enforcement, community leaders, juvenile justice officials, and the private sector. The role of this committee is to identify and coordinate strategies that will be used to attack significant gang problems. The STANCE strategy has six primary components:

  1. Create partnerships among law enforcement and adult and juvenile public safety agencies to implement data-driven strategies for investigating and prosecuting violent gang offenders
  2. Promote community-wide partnerships to prevent gang violence
  3. Conduct training for public safety, juvenile justice and law enforcement officers
  4. Implement successful strategies to transition ex-offenders into productive community members
  5. Empower the community to resist gang recruitment efforts and gang-related violence
  6. Measure the impact of STANCE strategies by helping program evaluators collect relevant data
